News Release from Lexington News:

Valeta McGhee, who has lived in the rural Odessa area for many years, has announced she will run as a Republican candidate for the position of Lafayette County Treasurer.

Valeta commented, “I am confident that my strong background in accounting and long-time experience as a small business owner and state-certified real estate appraiser give me the qualifications I need to handle the position of county treasurer well.”

Additionally, Valeta noted that for more than 30 years she has handled all record keeping, bank accounts and other paperwork and computer software programs that are necessary to successfully manage several small real estate businesses that she and her husband have operated. She has also served as a Girl Scout, Cub Scout and 4-H leader. Valeta is also a 2005 graduate of Lafayette County Lead 2000.
