Lafayette County Republicans to hold Lincoln Dinner Thursday, April 18th

Catherine Hanaway will keynote the Lafayette County Republicans Lincoln Dinner on Thursday, April 18th at the Wellington-Napoleon Community Christian Center in Wellington

The Lafayette County Republican Central Committee will hold its annual Lincoln Dinner on Thursday, April 18th at the Wellington-Napoloen Community Christian Center in Wellington. Appetizers will be served at a meet-and-greet reception at 6:30 p.m. Dinner will begin at 7 p.m. followed by the program.

Catharine Hanaway will keynote the event. She is the first and only female Speaker of the Missouri House of Representatives, a former U.S. Attorney, and currently a partner in the Ashcroft Hanaway Law Firm in St. Louis.

All office holders and potential 2014 candidates are encouraged to attend and will be allotted time to address the group.

Catherine Hanaway aggressively and successfully litigates complex civil and white collar criminal cases, provides seasoned and reliable legislative strategic advice, represents clients with thorny regulatory challenges and crafts messages for customers and the public when a client is facing a difficult public opinion dilemma.

In private practice, Catherine has represented clients with energy, regulatory, banking and securities law issues. She represented industrial users of power, opposing the first-ever hostile takeover in the public utilities industry before the Missouri Public Service Commission and the Kansas Corporation Commission. As outside counsel to the RTC, Catherine worked to recover millions during the last major financial crisis to rock the nation.

As U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Missouri, Catherine personally successfully tried cases to jury verdicts, supervised more than 4,000 cases and a staff of over 100. During her tenure, the office set records for the most cases tried and money forfeited. She led major expansions of the office’s prosecution of nursing home abuses, child exploitation, health care fraud and sophisticated white collar crimes – including securities and bank frauds. She created a Mortgage Fraud Task Force that prosecuted at every level from borrower to those upstreaming bad loans into the asset-backed securities markets.

As the first and only woman to serve as Speaker of the Missouri House of Representatives, Catherine held the line against tax increases proposed by the Governor, balanced the budget in an economic downturn, reformed the state’s corporate laws and passed innovative economic development tools. Catherine led Republicans to a majority victory in November 2002, after serving as the Minority Leader of the Missouri House of Representatives. Catherine also served on the staff of U.S. Senator Kit Bond.

Catherine joins the team of outstanding lawyers and professionals at the Ashcroft Group whom she has seen face the nation’s most complicated legal challenges with integrity, skill, and success. Catherine and her husband, Christopher, live in St. Louis County with their daughter, Lucy, and son, Jack.

Lafayette County Federated Republican Women and Lafayette County Republicans To Meet Thursday, March 21 in Lexington

Joint Program on Missouri Legislative Issues and Bills at 7:30 PM

The Federated Republican Women of Lafayette County and the Lafayette County Republican Central Committee and Friends will meet Thursday, March 21, at Lafayette Hall, 10^th and Franklin, Lexington, Missouri.

The Federated Republican Women will meet in the lower level meeting room at 7 p.m. followed by the Central Committee meeting at 7:30 p.m. in the first floor courtroom. Both meetings are open to the public.

Heidi Kolkmeyer, legislative director for Sen. Ron Richards, majority floor leader of the Missouri Senate, will present the program on legislation currently moving its way through the Missouri House and Senate.

February 21st Meeting of Lafayette Co. Republicans Postponed Due to Expected Severe Weather

FEBRUARY 21st MEETING POSTPONED

The Lafayette County Republicans meeting that is scheduled for Thursday, February 21st has been postponed due to expected severe weather. It will be rescheduled with the presenter who was going to give a program on gun issues, gun legislation, etc. This is a timely and vital topic, and we will let you know as soon as it is scheduled. Thank you for your understanding.

The next regularly scheduled meeting will be held the third Thursday of March on the 21st and will be a joint meeting with the Lafayette County Federated Republican Women.
